We sell fresh uncooked mussels in catering packs for busy restaurants and quick, individually frozen, uncooked for out of season seafood lovers. Although the farm is in early stages the business plan envisages a great deal of our produce going to Europe and Russia, where demand is high.
We have secured the services of a very modern seafood processing company in Fraserburgh, where the graded quality produce can be instantly frozen within hours of harvesting, to export mostly to proven markets in France, Spain and Italy. Following recent trade agreements with Russia, this market is looking most favourable, and a courier for this route is being sought as well.

The company needs a processing/packing plant and a specialised boat.
The intent is to put out the ropes in Spey Bay in March 2009, and to closely monitor the growth of the mussels. When the product is first harvested after only 1 year ( part of the thinning process) we will move to phase 2, gearing up the processing and marketing side ready for the main crop in 2010 and 2011.
The farm will be expanded and improved with income from sales, guaranteeing future financial success. The target is 1 000 tonnes per year of marketed produce, bringing in a conservative £2.25 million gross.
This venture will require a lot of work by a lot of personnel, all funded by shareholders investment, until the income takes over the burden. All investments will be repaid by year 3, with a clear and ever expanding profit in the years to follow.
